Higher National Diploma (HND) in Health and Social Care (Management) course provides advanced preparation for those who wish to pursue a career in care management or administration in healthcare services. Assessment method

HNDs are assessed through assignments, projects, presentations and practical tasks that you complete throughout the course. If you successfully complete HND, the grades in each subject unit are shown as: pass, merit or distinction. Please be aware that you must be able to prove that you have a minimum of 200 hours of relevant work experience in order to be able to complete the HND in Health and Social Care (Management). This is a mandatory requirement of the course and you can complete 200 hours across the duration of your studies (2 years).

As part of our entry requirements, applicants who may not have the necessary qualifications, may be considered through their relevant work experience (3 years minimum). As part of the application process, applicants will be required to provide a copy of their CV and a reference letter from employers.

Do you already have experience of or are you currently working in the Care sector? If so, you must provide proof of this. If you have never worked in the Care sector, you will be required to find relevant work before you will be allowed to start the course. Please be aware that you must be able to prove that you have a minimum of 200 hours of relevant work experience in order to be able to complete the HND in Health and Social Care. Admission tests

Institutions Own Test (IOT)

Firstly the team will look at your qualifications against each course’s entry criteria, your experience and personal statement and if they consider from this that you would benefit from the course you have applied for you will be invited to come to the College for an assessment test in English literacy and comprehension. If you successfully pass the English language requirements, you will be invited for a personal interview.

Interview

The personal interview provides you with an opportunity to talk to ABI College staff members about the course in order to ensure that it meets your needs. On the basis of this you will either be offered a place to study with us, or if it is decided that you are not ready for one of our courses appropriate advice will be given.
In some cases, the team may contact you for further information to help them make an admissions decision. If this is the case, please reply as soon as possible to avoid your application being rejected.

Additional fee information

Registration and certification with the awarding body: Students are required to pay £280 Edexcel Registration Fee at the beginning of their course. Upon successful completion of HND in Business, students will be refunded £280 when they receive their HND certificate. If withdrawn or excluded, the fee will not be refunded. It is a mandatory requirement that all students are registered with the awarding body (Pearson), shortly after starting the course. Accordingly, the College requires that you pay your fee within 14 days of your start date. This is in addition to the annual tuition fee and, and unlike tuition fee, it is not paid by the Student Loan Company.
