Holders of the BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma Engineering will have developed a sound understanding of the principles in their ‘specialist pathway’ of study and will have learned to apply those principles more widely. They will have learned to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems. They will be able to perform effectively in their chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for employment in situations requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and decision-making.
Modules studied are as follows: Core Unit 34 Research Project, Core Unit 35 Professional Engineering Management, Specialist Unit 39 Further Mathematics, Specialist Unit 44 Industrial Power, Electronics and Storage, Specialist Unit 45 Industrial Systems, Optional Unit 52 Further Electrical, Electronic and Digital Principles, Optional Unit 54 Fundamentals of Control Systems and Optional Unit 63 Industrial Services.
Continuous assessment through written assignments, presentations and laboratory work.
