The Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts is a brand new, exciting opportunity to progress to creative and employment opportunities within the performing arts and entertainment industry.

The emphasis on this project focused course is on acquiring and developing the skills and ideas essential for you as an actor or technician in this sector. You will be assessed through observation of your professional practice and your supportive coursework. The Higher National Diploma is a two-year, full time course, graduating at level 5; equivalent to the second year of a traditional university degree.

Graduates wishing to take their studies further may be able to progress to a top-up degree at a relevant institution.

What will you study?
With pathway opportunities in performance and production, the course covers a range of professional opportunities, as well as practical training.

As a professional actor you will explore voice, movement, approaches to acting, performance for camera, touring and site specific performance, with the opportunity to work alongside professional practitioners. Production opportunities include sound, light, design, digital media, and stage and production management.

The course offers the exciting opportunity to work as a performance company to produce a number of projects throughout your studies, work with local partners, performance companies and venues.

Performance students will take part in a workshop as part of the selection process and production students will present a portfolio of work.
