This programme is also accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science, which offers a strong scientific foundation in the biological aspects of health and disease, ready for building a career in the health sciences. This accredited degree can lead to State Registration as professional Biomedical Scientist, by the Health and Care Professions Council. Skills: You will develop your knowledge about the human body in health and disease. The essential functions of life are explored by studying cell biology and molecular biology. You will also develop practical skills in:
  • Understanding areas such as pharmacology
  • The branch of medicine concerned with the use and effect of drugs
  • Immunology – learning about all aspects of the immune system.
  • Developing the relationship between nutrition and health.
Additionally, you'll take part in practical assessments involving research and data collection. This ensures a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical concepts and hands-on applications, preparing you for a well-rounded exploration of the biomedical sciences. We schedule our teaching across no more than three days each week. Plus, we'll confirm which days these are well in advance of the start of term, so you can plan ahead. We offer a wide range of scholarships for UK undergraduates, including: - The Roehampton Bursary is worth £1,000 for the first year of our undergraduate degree programmes*. It will be awarded automatically to students in receipt of a full maintenance loan, to help with costs such as travel and accommodation. - Academic Excellence Scholarships worth: £3,000 over the course of a degree for students with the equivalent of AAA or above (144+ tariff) at A-level (or equivalent tariff in other qualifications, e.g. BTEC) and £2,000 over the course of a degree for students with the equivalent of AAB at A-level (136-143 tariff) (or equivalent tariff in other qualifications, e.g. BTEC) - esports scholarships, worth £2,000 per year of the degree, available to students who demonstrate aptitude in esports. - Music and Sports Scholarships, available to students who demonstrate excellence in music or sports - Care leaver bursaries, worth £2,000 per year of study to Care Leavers enrolling on Undergraduate programmes at Roehampton, for up to four years of study.
