INTRODUCTION

HOW YOU WILL LEARN
There’s a mixture of lectures, research projects, seminars and workshops as well as industrial visits and guest lectures from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

OPPORTUNITIES AND EXPERIENCES
You can choose to take a year’s placement to enhance your credibility with prospective employers. You can also get involved with teams working on national student competitions – for example to design, build and drive energy efficient vehicles.

CAREERS AND EMPLOYABILITY
This degree prepares you for careers in mechanical engineering design, motorsport or automotive design and in applications of advanced materials. You can also progress to our MSc which meets all the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer status.

UCAS Tariff 96 - 112 points Your offer will be based on your predicted grades from your core A2s (full A levels), BTEC Diploma etc including grade C at A level in Mathematics and one other Science or Technology subject at A Level (or equivalent qualification). We will accept up to 16 points towards the total from level 3 qualifications such as AS (where those AS levels are not taken on to A2 level), the Extended Project, or Music qualifications. In addition you are required to have 5 GCSEs grades A-C or grade 4 including Maths and English. For Access to HE please see the specific credits required in the section for Access to HE
Access to HE Diploma Pass Access to Higher Education Diploma (60 credits) with a minimum 24 level three credits at Merit plus GCSE Maths and English. Functional Skills or Key Skills at level 2. Must include passes in compulsory L3 subjects
