Hartpury University has opted into the TEF and received a Gold award.
Explore the science behind equine health and rehabilitation on this applied degree. Learn in labs and gain experience in our commercial Equine Therapy Centre, equipped with its own water treadmill to rehabilitate horses and prepare them for competition. The foundation year option will give you the subject-specific knowledge and skills needed to progress on to the BSc degree.
You’ll learn how to diagnose and treat equine health issues and conditions, whilst developing your knowledge of exercise anatomy and physiology, biomechanics and behaviour. You’ll develop your ability to manage these elements to optimise equine function and performance - at both grassroots and competition level.
You’ll gain industry experience through a work placement. Many students secure their graduate roles with these organisations. Recent graduate destinations include roles in equine therapy centres, rehabilitation facilities on competition and racing yards, and postgraduate study at Hartpury.
The foundation year includes lectures in equine, study skills, science and or management, depending upon an individual’s previous academic background. Within the year, you will be supported to enhance your skills and knowledge to ensure you are fully prepared to succeed in year 1.
