Curation (Taught) Norwich University of the Arts

The course is distinguished by an emphasis on individual practice-based projects with a focus on hands-on curatorial experience and related training. In the idea of ‘exhibition’ it envisages a diverse and expanding range of public outcomes across the field of contemporary art, from gallery-based exhibitions to projects in non-traditional venues; from site-specific interventions to public art projects; and to the possibilities offered by platforms such as archives, self-publishing, print, digital media and the internet. It acknowledges the emergence of the artist-curator alongside more traditional routes to curatorial practice. The course will help you to develop self-initiated curatorial projects, through study that is research informed rather than research led. You will be encouraged to research and develop innovative curatorial practice in the public domain, and the development of new audiences.
