University Centre Somerset - Bridgwater & Taunton College has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
You will have a rich experience exploring interior textiles, fashion textiles and surface design to evaluate your place in the contemporary design industry. The course is aimed at nurturing students ready to progress onto further study or into the workplace. You will be taught to question the ways in which colour, pattern, image, scale and texture create style and atmosphere. The FD is a perfect platform for progression onto the BA (Hons) top-up degree. Our graduates have established careers in fields such as textile/interior design, style/trend forecasting and buying.
Modules include: idea and materiality; sustainability; critical reflection; studio practice; orientation
making meanings; value and context; creativity and collaboration; portfolio and professional practice; navigation teaching and assessment
Most of your time will be spent in our first-rate studios and workshops. Assessment is 100% coursework without exams. Your final Degree Show exhibition forms an essential part of assessment
