Year one of this course will give emphasis to the application of knowledge, skills and understanding. You will be introduced to basic principles within costumeand fashion and their related industries. These principles will incorporate design and technology, materials, techniques and processes and cultural studies, pattern cutting, block development, modelling techniques, illustration and presentation skills. The second year will give emphasis to the application and evaluation of design ideas and concepts. Assignments will be increasingly based on industrial context through briefs set by and presented to industry professionals. The Final Major Project will consolidate your individual learning with the opportunity to produce a substantial body of work, culminating in an End of Year Exhibition and Fashion Show.
