Wrth ddewis astudio’r cwrs BA Gwleidyddiaeth a Hanes Modern ym Mhrifysgol Aberystwyth byddi’n cael y cyfle i astudio mewn dwy adran uchel iawn eu bri sy’n arloesi o ran dysgu ac ymchwil, sef yr Adran Gwleidyddiaeth Ryngwladol a’r Adran Hanes a Hanes Cymru. Mae’r cynllun gradd mewn Gwleidyddiaeth a Hanes Modern yn un cyffrous a diddorol.

Mae’r cynllun gradd Anrhydedd Sengl mewn Gwleidyddiaeth a Hanes Modern yn canolbwyntio ar hanes a gwleidyddiaeth ddiweddar. Mae’n cyfuno arbenigedd haneswyr a gwyddonwyr gwleidyddol mewn cwrs cyfrannol sy’n rhoi cryn hyblygrwydd i ti wrth ddewis modiwlau. Rhennir y gwaith dysgu rhwng yr Adran Hanes a Hanes Cymru a’r Adran Gwleidyddiaeth Ryngwladol, dwy adran a enillodd glod am eu gwaith dysgu ac ymchwil yn eu priod feysydd.

Mae’r rhan fwyaf ohonom yn chwilfrydig am y gorffennol ac am y ffordd mae cymdeithas ddynol wedi esblygu dros amser. Yn ogystal â bod yn ddiddorol ynddo’i hun, mae astudio elfen o hanes yn cynnig gweledigaeth a all ein helpu i ddeall digwyddiadau’r byd sydd ohoni. Bydd elfen wleidyddol y radd hon yn trafod y syniadau sy’n sail i’n bywydau o ddydd i ddydd, megis cyfiawnder, rhyddid, grym, cymuned, cydraddoldeb a dinasyddiaeth. Bydd gradd mewn Gwleidyddiaeth a Hanes Modern yn caniatáu i ti roi digwyddiadau diweddar mewn perspectif ac yn rhoi i ti sgiliau dadansoddi dehongli a chyfathrebu, sydd mor bwysig mewn bywyd bob dydd.

Sefydlwyd yr Adran Gwleidyddiaeth Ryngwladol yn 1919 ar ddiwedd y Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf, a dyma’r adran brifysgol gyntaf o’i bath, ac mae’n parhau i fod yn un o’r adrannau gwleidyddiaeth a chysylltiadau rhyngwladol mwyaf yn Ewrop, a chanddi dros 40 o staff academaidd. Yn y Fframwaith Rhagoriaeth Ymchwil diweddaraf (2014), cafodd yr Adran ei enwi fel yr Adran Gwleidyddiaeth Ryngwladol gorau yng Nghymru a seithfed gorau yn y Deyrnas Unedig am ansawdd ymchwil, gyda 69% o gyhoeddiadau a gyflwynwyd o safon sydd gyda’r dosbarthiadau Gorau yn y Byd ac yn Rhagorol yn Rhyngwladol.

Mae’r awyrgylch dysgu cynhyrfus a chosmopolitaidd yma yn croesawu myfyrwyr o bedwar ban byd, ac yn gartref bywiog i drafodaeth wleidyddol gyfoes. Mae gan yr adran hanes hir o edrych ar y byd a gofyn cwestiynau sylfaenol am ystod o bynciau – materion megis rhyfel, cudd-wybodaeth a diogelwch, tlodi byd-eang, moeseg a newid hinsawdd; sut y daeth y byd i fod fel ag y mae, a sut y mae hynny’n newid o hyd.

Bu modd astudio Hanes fel pwnc ym Mhrifysgol Aberystwyth ers ei sefydlu yn 1872, a thros y 140 mlynedd diwethaf rydym wedi perffeithio’r cynlluniau gradd yr ydym yn eu cynnig er mwyn sicrhau dy fod yn cael y radd orau posib. Mae darlithwyr yr Adran Hanes a Hanes Cymru i gyd hefyd yn ymwneud â gwaith ymchwil diweddar. Yn yr asesiad Fframwaith Rhagoriaeth Ymchwil 2014, roedd 95% o ymchwil a gynnalwyd yn Brifysgol Aberystwyth o safon â gydnabyddir yn rhyngwladol. Gallwn felly roi cyfle iti ddatblygu dy ddoniau a dy ddiddordebau hanesyddol drwy astudio’n agos gyda thiwtoriaid sy’n arbenigwyr yn eu meysydd.

Yn ogystal â Llyfrgell wych y Brifysgol, gall myfyrwyr Gwleiyddiaeth a Hanes Modern yn Aberystwyth fwynhau aelodaeth gyflawn o Lyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru. Dim ond pum llyfrgell hawlfraint a geir ledled Prydain, a’n Llyfrgell Genedlaethol ni yw un ohonynt. Mae’n dal mwy na 6 miliwn o lyfrau, mapiau a phrintiadau, ac mae’r cwbl o fewn pum munud i’r Adrannau. Bydd yr adnoddau hyn yn werthfawr dros ben wrth i ti ysgrifennu dy draethawd estynedig yn dy drydedd flwyddyn.

Mae cymdeithasau myfyrwyr bywiog yn y ddwy adran, sydd yn trefnu darlithoedd gan siaradwyr gwadd, ymweliadau â lleoedd o ddiddordeb a digwyddiadau cymdeithasol drwy’r flwyddyn. Mae ganddynt hefyd gysylltiadau â phrifysgolion dethol dramor, a dyma gyfle gwych i ti ehangu dy orwelion academaidd a chymdeithasol drwy dreulio rhan o dy brofiad prifysgol dramor.

Applicants are selected on their individual merits and offers can vary. We allow you flexibility in meeting our entry requirements, and all qualifications that you have already gained, or are working towards, will be considered when reviewing your application. We have an inclusive policy which recognises a broad range of qualifications. The entry requirements listed here represent typical offers for some of the most popular qualifications taken by applicants. We still use the UCAS tariff to determine whether you have met the terms of our offer, so whatever qualifications you are taking, provided these are included in the UCAS tariff and provided you meet the overall points total (and any specific subject requirements) you may still receive an offer. This means that if your course requires 3 A levels at BBB, we will accept other grade combinations that are equivalent to the same number of tariff points. For example A levels ABC and AAD equate to 120 UCAS tariff points). Applicants studying a mixture of qualifications (e.g. A Level with BTEC) are also warmly welcomed. If you cannot find the qualification(s) that you are studying (or have previously studied) please contact our Undergraduate Admissions Office (Telephone: +44 (0)1970 622021; Email: ug-admissions@aber.ac.uk) for advice on your eligibility and details of the typical offer you are likely to receive.
