This degree is a natural choice for applicants who want a wide-ranging qualification that gives them a good-grounding in business and management fundamentals. We aim to give students a solid understanding of the nature of entrepreneurial opportunity, so that they can become self-starters when it comes to developing businesses. But equally, we aim to equip them with the skills to be able to bring innovation, creativity and strategic thinking to organisations that they may choose to work for. The range of careers open to our business and management graduates is hence as wide as their own imaginations can take them.
In practice, there are a wide range of career opportunities for BA (Hons) Business Management graduates, including both public and private sector employment opportunities in specific vocational areas such as marketing, IT, HRM planning, and accountancy and managerial trainee posts. Graduates can progress into becoming human resource managers, operations managers, brand managers and business development managers among many other career pathways.
There are two semesters each year. Students complete 2 x 30 credit modules each semester, enabling students to concentrate on fewer modules at a time. For a full list of modules see provider's course page.
Ethics, Sustainability and Social Impact is an optional module available at Level 5 that introduces students to the academic theory concerned with business ethics, the sustainability of organisations and the impact of organisations on society. It also critically examines the various initiatives and frameworks employed by organisations to enhance ethicality, sustainability and social impact.
Talent Management is an optional module available at Level 5 that explores the contribution that HRM makes towards effectiveness in organisations. This is especially reflected in the knowledge economy within which organisations exist today, and is a recognition of the importance to organisational performance of the ways in which employees are strategically managed and individual talents developed. This module explores the main drivers, enablers and barriers involved in the successful development and implementation of talent management within organisations.
Optional modules are subject to demand.
Modules are assessed in different ways, e.g. essays, reports, portfolios, presentations and examinations.
Professionally accredited courses provide industry-wide recognition of the quality of your qualification.
