The Higher National Diploma in Applied Chemistry is a two year industry focused programme offering students the opportunity to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills across all three branches of the subject. The qualification comprises units of study and is credit based, with students required to achieve a total of 245 credits for accreditation at the end of the programme. The Higher National Diploma in Applied Chemistry is recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry, and students studying on the programme may apply to become members of the Society. Progression routes from the Higher National Diploma in Applied Chemistry are likely to include employment within a laboratory environment, a top up course at a local university to achieve a full degree or training to enter the teaching profession.
