Studying for a degree at TSD - Lampeter is a truly unique Higher Educational experience. We can offer you small teaching groups, individual tutorials, a friendly community, excellent support for students and their particular needs, research active lecturers, an archive where students can brouse through medieval manuscripts, and a suite of exciting Humanities based subjects. In addition the programme can offer you: excellent facilities for field and laboratory-based courses, with its own bespoke series of laboratories (covering analysis of soil, pollen, ‘the bone lab’, the project room), high-tech computer facilities to undertake GIS survey, many wide-ranging and varied option courses to choose from, staff with teaching and research expertise in a wide international area and an ideal area with sites ranging from prehistoric hill forts and monuments, to Roman gold mines and imposing medieval castle complexes. The programme can also offer a strong vocational relevance based on an Observation Placement in a primary or secondary School or in museum at level 5 with the option to do another placement at level 6, and help with an interview and entry for PGCE training qualification.

The programme is made up of the following combinations of core, compulsory and optional modules. These might alter a little from year to year owing to staff changes, curriculum development and recommendations following validation. However at level 4 there are 6 compulsory modules, including a cross-Faculty study skills modules completed by all students, and no optional modules. At level 5 there are 5 compulsory modules, including a School specific research methods modules completed by all students, and 3 optional modules. At level 6 all students complete a Dissertation of either 20 or 40 credits in addition to 4 compulsory modules and 4 optional ones.
