University of Hertfordshire has opted into the TEF and received a Gold award.
Molecular biology focuses on the blueprint for life, DNA. The blueprint however has to be read and interpreted by other macromolecules, RNA and proteins, to create life; an incredibly complex process that molecular biologists are trying to unravel and understand. It is work that will help to prevent or find cures for diseases with a genetic origin like cystic fibrosis and cancers, or find our origin and how we came to be. However, it not just the medical and veterinary sciences; molecular biology is now finding a role in almost every biological science, even psychology, ecology, conservation, horticulture and agriculture to name a few.
It is the science of now and the future, and here at Hertfordshire, we're equipped to help you develop into the biologists of tomorrow.
The university has excellent research facilities for molecular biology enabling students to experience key techniques for example, PCR and bioinformatics. Once you graduate you will be eligible for graduate membership of the Institute of Biology. Molecular Biology involves the study of biology at the molecular level, providing an insight into the building blocks of life itself. DNA carries the hereditary information that determines the structures of proteins. It contains through which cells are instructed to grow and divide, to differentiate into specialized cells thereby generating the millions of different life forms that exist. The university has excellent research facilities for molecular biology enabling students to experience key techniques for example, PCR and bioinformatics.
