Warwickshire College Group has opted into the TEF and received a Bronze award.
This two year BTEC course is designed for students wishing to progress or reinforce their studies prior to the final year of an honours degree or a career in engineering.
The broad curriculum will provide students with a firm grounding in engineering principles and techniques. Additional to learning theory, students will have opportunities to develop and practice valuable engineering skills to enhance their development.
To achieve the new Higher National Diploma, you will be required to complete a selection of modules which amount to 240 credits.
The modules comprise of mandatory units and specialist units:
Managing an Engineering Project;
Professional Engineering Management;
Materials properties and testing;
Computer Aided Design;
Advanced Mechanical Principles;
Further Electrical/ Electronic Principles;
Programmable Logic Controllers;
There will be a wide range of assessment methods and equipment appropriate to the learning outcomes and assessment criteria, and all assessments consider the practices used within the engineering sector. Whilst credit is awarded at a threshold level of achievement only, grading arrangements will apply to individual units which will allow for the award of merit and distinction achievement according to Pearson's published grading criteria.
Assessment is considered an important part of the learning process. In formulating the methods of assessment for this award, care has been taken to ensure that all assessments test the skills and knowledge needed in the Engineering working environment.
