The course is designed to fast-track graduates who wish to pursue careers in accountancy or taxation, but whose primary qualifications are in areas other than accounting. The programme aims to develop students' understanding of the conceptual underpinnings and practice of accounting. Secondly, it strives to enhance students' problem-solving, analytical, critical thinking and independent learning skills so that they are equipped appropriately for challenging careers in dynamic professional and business environments.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a 2.2 Honours degree at level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications. One of the following sets of 2nd level qualifications: Irish leaving certificate examination grade C3 or above in higher level Irish; a grade D3 or above in mathematics (ordinary or higher level); and a grade C3 or above in English (ordinary level) or grade D3 or above in English (higher level); grade C at GCE A Level Irish; grade C at GC(S)E Level in both English and English literature or grade B at GC(S)E level in either grade D at GC(S)E level in additional mathematics or a grade C at GC(S)E level in mathematics. Alternatives to second level qualifications in Irish, English or mathematics will be considered.
