Course summary

Our BA (Hons) Musical Theatre degree will equip you with the skills and experiences required to build a career in the musical theatre industry. In addition to receiving comprehensive training in acting, singing and dance, we will help you discover and develop your unique artistic voice empowering you to create your own performance work. Throughout the course, you’ll be guided by working industry professionals who have first-hand industry knowledge and insight into what it takes to be successful. You will also collaborate with and learn from: • leading musical theatre directors • writers • musical directors • agents • casting directors. Our aim is for you to graduate with the skills and confidence to enter the industry as a well-rounded and versatile performer with the experience and confidence to create your own career opportunities. What you'll study This musical theatre course will give you the skills and experiences needed to succeed in today's musical theatre industry. You will work at the cutting edge of industry practice, collaborating with highly experienced industry professionals while passionate tutors will guide you through your creative journey as you hone your skills and create new and exciting work. Additionally, you will showcase your talents in events including: • full-scale musicals • fringe theatre • tours of schools • concerts • cabarets.  You will be prepared for life as a working performer with insights on auditions, self-management, representation and business skills, as well as receiving guidance on essential promotional materials such as headshots, CVs, and showreels. Equity and Spotlight recognise the course. • At Level 4, you’ll focus on the core skills of singing, acting and dance before integrating them into performance. • At Level 5, in addition to developing core skills, you’ll explore further performance techniques such as acting for screen, puppetry, voiceover and more. You’ll learn how to create your own works and perform them in the LCM Cabaret Festival and a School tour. • At Level 6, you will perform in full-scale musicals to agents and casting directors in our own on-campus theatre. You will film a professional Showreel in addition to a Showcase opening the door to screen work. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to gain the Licentiate of the London College of Music (LCME), earning two qualifications through this course and opening employment opportunities in education.   As a versatile musical theatre artist, you will be able to carve your own path in this exciting industry and take control of your career.
