This course offers an excellent grounding in accountancy, finance as well as business studies, providing you with the financial expertise, analytical skills, and strategic insight needed to pursue a career in the financial sector. It also offers the maximum number of exemptions set by the professional accountancy institutions.
Distinct features of this course include: the flexibility to switch pathways after year one, studying at one of our international partner institutions, an optional 30-week placement at home or abroad, accreditations from industry-leading financial associations, plus the opportunity to obtain the ICAEW’s Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business. We are one of only a few UK universities able to offer this.
Our students are now working as accountants, financial advisors, account managers, tax consultants, finance executives, mortgage advisors and management accountants in companies such as PriceWaterHouseCoopers, JP Morgan, IBM, Disney, Adidas UK Ltd, Apple, Bank of New York Mellon, BMW, British Airways and HMRC.

Each of the courses in this framework will give you those vital core skills, as well as offering more specialist options depending on the pathway you choose to pursue. All courses' first year units are the same, allowing you the flexibility to transfer to another pathway at the end of the first year if you wish. This keeps your career options open and enables you to make more informed choices.
You will study a range of subject areas including accounting, finance, quantitative and statistical techniques, law and economics for accounting & finance, business management, taxation, financial reporting, audit & control and business tax planning.

Mature applicants: We recognise that mature applicants may have a wealth of experience rather than formal qualifications, so we’ll consider your application on these merits if included in your application. You’ll need to apply to BU in the usual way through UCAS and you may be invited to an interview to discuss your suitability for the course based on the experience you tell us about in your application.
