The programme in Media Studies is part of a world leading centre for media and communications research. Its approach is critical social science and its main research focuses on media policy, industry and economics; media audiences and social media; and media history. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014), 52 per cent of our research was judged to be "world-leading" (the top rating, four star), with 87 per cent of the total rated "internationally excellent" (three star). The assessment of our impact on society and business was exceptional.
