University Centre Grimsby has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
The aim of the Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Sport (Community Sport & Physical Activity) is aimed at students who are wanting to continue their education through an applied learning bases. This programme is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in sport.
The outcome of the Higher National Certificate is to equip you with sporting skills, knowledge and understanding that is necessary to achieve a high performance in a sporting environment.
The programme also provides you with the education and training for a different range of careers in sport that can include sports coaching, sports development officer, coach and duty manager.
The programme also offers you opportunities to develop your understanding into the diversity of roles within sport, along with developing your understanding and knowledge of culturally diverse organisations, cross cultural issues, diversity and values.
The programme also allows you to develop the skills, techniques and personal attributes that are essential for successful working environments. Finally, the course enables you to progress onto further professional qualification in specific sports areas, and also to progress further in your academic studies.
Mandatory units are:
• Physical Activity, lifestyle & Health
• The Sports Landscape
• Project Management (Pearson-set unit)
• Activity Leadership
• Inclusive Sport
• Experiential learning
• Working with young people.
The assessment methods will be through written assignments, practical demonstrations, presentation and discussions.
