If you want to pursue a creative undergraduate degree but have limited experience of hands-on making, or lack the relevant academic qualifications, our Extended Degree programme will prepare you to enter one of our BA (Hons) undergraduate programmes.
This intensive and challenging programme forms the first year of a four-year route towards gaining a BA (Hons) degree with us, providing you with a range of art, design and media skills.
Following an induction period, our Extended Degree students will have access to all the facilities within college, including our 3D studios, specialist drawing spaces, photographic facilities, and the region’s most extensive and comprehensively stocked moving image
Once you have successfully completed this first year of the programme, you will progress onto a named degree programme within the college. Many of our past students have gone on to achieve high grades in their degrees, including a large number with First Class Honours.
Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - BA (Hons)
The first year of an Extended Degree is not a qualification in its own right, but when you successfully complete it you are guaranteed a place on our full undergraduate programme.
You’ll develop confidence in your use of drawing, visual research, contextual studies, digital imaging and design methods, and you’ll have the chance to experiment with a range of materials, equipment, processes and software.
As the year goes by you’ll specialise in your chosen undergraduate subject (illustration, graphic design, fine art, etc.), helping you to become a confident, independent and creative artist, designer or maker.
If your application is completed by the following date, it’s guaranteed to be considered:
*If you apply after this deadline, universities or colleges don’t have to consider your application if they’ve filled their spaces, so the sooner you apply, the better!
