Course summary

This course will enable students to convert their foundation degree or HND to a full BA (Hons) degree so they can progress their career within the field of early childhood education and care. The course aims to provide a broad and balanced knowledge and understanding of the main features of early childhood education and care and you will have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of disciplines as the programme draws on aspects of social policy, leadership and management and inclusion. Studying the course part-time will provide you with the flexibility to combine paid employment with study. As an Early Childhood Studies graduate you will have the opportunity to become part of an interdisciplinary workforce which encompasses early childhood in all its diverse aspects. Many pursue a broad range of careers, working in children’s centres, schools, nurseries, social services, local authority support teams, and charitable organisations. There is also the opportunity to pursue a career in teaching through PGCE or School Direct.

Qualification requirements

Applicants will need to have 120 credits at Level 4 and 120 at Level 5. Entry requirements are flexible and recognise a range of academic qualifications as well as relevant work experience. Applicants must obtain Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance.
