The global Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) market is in high demand of qualified data scientists.

Data scientists seek to collect and ask questions about data from different sources, and then translate results into solutions that influence key business decisions. Going beyond business-driven data analysis, you will learn how to work with Big Data frameworks and develop results into contemporary visual analytics.

You will also explore cutting edge Machine Learning techniques, including how to implement and apply algorithms such as Artificial Neural Networks on a range of real-world industry-inspired problems.

In your final year, you will take this further, delving into Deep Learning, which is driving innovation in a huge range of fields involving image, video, speech and text analysis for applications like self-driving cars, detecting fake news, and medical diagnosis.

This is one of eight undergraduate computing courses we offer at BU. As we understand that it can be difficult to know what area you’d like to specialise in, all of these courses share a common first year, giving you the time to really explore the subject before deciding on a specialism. You only need to apply for one of the courses in the framework and you will have the opportunity to change your final degree title during your study with us. Take a look at all the courses here.
