You’ll develop your knowledge and skills in coaching, sports psychology and leadership across a range of sports. You’ll be encouraged to gain as much coaching experience as possible, both on campus and in clubs and schools, to ensure you’re well prepared for your career. We have excellent partnerships with the Football Association, the Rugby Football Union, Active Gloucestershire and Gloucester Athletics. You’ll build a diverse portfolio of experience, which you can use to evidence your experience to employers when you graduate. Recent graduate roles have included football, rugby and rowing coaches, as well as lead sports roles in clubs and schools.
You will study a range of subjects, with optional modules allowing you to tailor your degree to your own interests. Year 1 modules include Coaching and Teaching Portfolio (Theory), The Sport and Exercise Professional, Introduction to Sport and Exercise Psychology, Introduction to the Sport Industry, Introduction to the Sport Exercise Physiology and Comparative Sports Study

|Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)||DMM - DDM||Typical offer is a DDM-DMM in an Extended Diploma or equivalent in a relevant subject.|
|Access to HE Diploma||Typical offer is 112-128 UCAS tariff points in an Access to Higher Education Diploma to include a minimum of a pass in a Biological Science, Sports Studies or PE module at Level 3|
|Scottish Higher||Typical offer is 112-128 UCAS tariff points in Scottish Highers. This must include a minimum of two Highers, including one in a Biological Science, Sports Studies or PE subject.|
|International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme||
Typical offer is 112-128 UCAS tariff points in an IB Diploma, to include a minimum of two Highers at H3 or above, including one in a Biological Science, Sports Studies or PE subject.
This must also include Maths and English Language at a minimum of Standard Level S3 if equivalent GCSE's have not been obtained.
|Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017)||Typical offer is 112-128 UCAS tariff points in the Irish Leaving Certificate. This must include a minimum of two Highers, including one in a Biological Science, Sports Studies or PE subject. This must also include Maths and English Language at a minimum of Ordinary Level.|
In addition to the above Level 3 qualifications, a minimum of 5 GCSE A* to C, (or 9 to 4), or equivalent, to include English Language and Mathematics are required.
We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants. We may interview mature applicants and those with non-traditional qualifications.
If you don't meet our tariff points requirement we will still consider your application and may be able to offer you a place on an alternative programme. Each application is considered on its own merits and we will consider combinations of the above mentioned qualifications or equivalent.
