This course will allow you to move into a broad sector of industries and take on creative roles that will ultimately enable you to become a creative leader of the future. Given the broad range of disciplines that will be covered across topics such as computer animation, visual effects and games design, you will be equipped to be involved in production as well as using transferrable skills that will enable you to be effective members of creative production teams. This course is jointly delivered by experts from the Department of Creative Technology and the National Centre of Computer Animation.
You’ll also learn about the business aspect of the games sector, making sure that as well as having the technical and theoretical skills to help create brilliant games, you also have the business acumen to help them become a success in a competitive marketplace.
Key areas of study include: games design principles, decoding art, level design, game development pipeline, storytelling & narrative development, interface design, commercialisation & business environment and project and portfolio production.

Apprenticeships: We recognise the transferable knowledge and skills gained through apprenticeships and welcome applications from students with the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. Each application will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Mature applicants: We recognise that mature applicants may have a wealth of experience rather than formal qualifications, so we’ll consider your application on these merits if it’s included in your application. You’ll need to apply to BU in the usual way through UCAS and you may be invited to an interview to discuss your suitability for the course based on the experience you tell us about in your application.
