Modules

This degree combines the academic study of History with Politics.

The History programme at UWTSD allows students to explore many different political, social, economic, military and cultural aspects of history. It combines a study of change over time in broad sweeping survey modules introducing key aspects of the medieval and modern world, with more focused modules on topics such as Norman society and Crusades, the First World War and 1980s Britain.
Politics provides you with a fundamental understanding of the way societies and the world functions through politics. It examines British, European, and global political structures alongside their surrounding social, economic, and philosophical frameworks. By doing so you will gain a broad range of skills that will prepare you for numerous career paths, principally within politics.

There is a strong sense of community among students and staff, and the ratio of staff to students is such that students can access their lecturers when needed. The small classes are always friendly and never intimidating, allowing staff to know their students on a first-name basis.

Assessment method

The programme is assessed in a variety of ways and will include several of the following type of assessment: essays of 1000 to 4000 words in length, document analyses, book reviews, short reports and reflective journals, creative portfolios, time tests, seen and unseen exams, field journals, posters, group and individual presentations, dissertations of 10,000 words, wikis, commentaries and film evaluations.
