Research areas in Computer Science include: data and knowledge management; health and social care modelling;
computational intelligence; high performance Java and virtual multi-language programming environments; modelling and simulation of parallel and distributed systems; performance optimisations and prediction; performance evaluation; high level message passing interfaces; clustering and grid computing; large-scale distributed computing infrastructures (DCIs) such as grids and clouds; science gateways; computational workflow; and infrastructure interoperability. Much of our work has an applied focus, with real-world impact. Our teaching and research are closely linked, so that students are able to learn from leading researchers in the field.
