Based at our purpose built Technology Centre and at the state of the art Flybe Training Academy, this progression programme from the Level 3 Flybe Diploma will provide you with the theoretical and practical skills to become a Licenced Aircraft Engineer. The programme is fully accredited to the exacting requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority and, on successful completion of the Foundation Degree and EASA modules, you will have the knowledge and recognition to continue your practical experience within the aircraft industry to ultimately apply for and gain your EASA Part 66 B1.1 licence. As part of the programme, you will visit aerospace related companies such as Rolls Royce, British Airways, Dowty Rotol and Airbus, you will also receive Maintenance Experience (ME) at the Flybe New Walker Hangar, working on live in-use aircraft which use the latest technology.
The programme balances assignments and examinations in almost equal measure. You will undertake formal lectures, laboratory work and Maintenance Experience (ME) in the specialist facilities at the Flybe Walker Hangar.
Successful completion of the programme provides you with the knowledge and industry recognition to ultimately apply for the Civil Aviation Authority Engineers licence after practical experience on live aircraft. This allows successful candidates to work in an EASA organisation which is recognised internationally. Previous students have all secured employment within the aerospace industry. You can also progress on to the Bachelor of Science Honours Degree (BSc Hons) at Kingston University which is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Former students have all gone on to work in the Aerospace Industry with companies such as Flybe, British Airways and Air Canada. Whilst most students work in a maintenance environment this course opens up opportunities throughout the aircraft industry such as design and quality. So far the course boasts a 100% employment record at the end of the course.
