Course summary

Do you want to be an industry professional and gain experience under the guidance of industry professionals? This Foundation Degree, taught in partnership with Plymouth University here at the new Bay Studios, is designed to offer professional training for today’s performer. The course is highly practical containing strong elements of academic contextual study. You will be part of a performance company and you will be challenged and inspired in a variety of different ways from TV location shooting to forming and touring your own productions. Our industry-trained professionals include actors, technicians, designers, television professionals and voice and musical theatre specialists. You will be eligible to join the Actors’ Union Equity through this course.

Assessment method

Assessment for this course is entirely through coursework which includes written assignments and practical work. There are no examinations.

Applicants should normally be at least 18 years of age. Applications are welcomed from candidates with a subject-specific Level 3 course such as a National Subsidiary/Diploma/Extended Diploma, A Level, Access to Higher Education Course, or a work-based course, such as NVQ 3 or Advanced Apprenticeship with 48 UCAS points achieved. Applications are invited from a wide range of backgrounds including mature students who hold relevant work experience and/or qualifications, and/or learning through experience. Additional fee information

Additional costs include £5 refundable HE Centre pass and a £24 College parking permit if applicable. Whilst you are a student on our Foundation degree programme you will receive a season ticket which enables you to access a range of public professional theatre performances scheduled in the Bay Theatre (on the College campus) during term time for free! We believe seeing this work is an integral part of your development as an artist and is an essential element of your study. Non-attendance at an event without extenuating circumstances and subsequent prior consent from your tutor will incur a charge equivalent to the price of purchasing a concessionary ticket for that event. *Note – All costs may be subject to change and may vary dependent on place of purchase.
