Studying Applied Nutritional Science opens up career pathways in food science, public health and clinical nutrition.
On this course, you’ll explore the chemistry of food, learn about human nutrition, public health and lifestyle, food science, perspectives of clinical nutrition, food policy and commercial responses. You’ll gain the laboratory and other practical skills in our Level-2 SuperLab Complex (anglia.ac.uk/superlab). The SuperLab space also encompasses a physiological lab.
When you graduate, you’ll have a solid grasp of the factors which influence public health nutrition, from the environment and family, to general culture and the availability of food. Professional skills are embedded throughout the degree, ensuring that our graduates are highly employable and have a portfolio of work experience to showcase at interviews.
If you do not meet the entry requirements for this course, we offer an extended degree, run over 4 years: Applied Nutritional Science (Extended).

Principles of Human Nutrition, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Scientific Communication and Professional Skills, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Principles of Metabolism, Principles of Biomedical Science
Year two, core modules:
Nutrition and Health, Essential Physiological Biochemistry, Research Methods, Principles of Food Science, Work Based Learning and Professional Skills
Year three, core modules:
Communication and Leadership in Applied Nutritional Science, Applied Food Science, Perspectives in Clinical Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition and Lifestyle, Undergraduate Major Project
We'll make sure you're progressing in a number of ways, including multiple choice tests, practical exams, reflective essays, oral and poster presentations, scientific report writing and independent project work. In the first year of this degree, one-to-one tutor will help you acquire a solid understanding of all the relevant subject matter. In years 2 and 3, assessment will focus on helping you develop from someone who consumes knowledge, to someone who generates it and is able to think independently.
