Our three year BEng Biomedical Engineering course is designed to provide an academic and practical understanding of engineering systems and applications in the medical field. You will develop a deep understanding of the human physiology and the biological functions of the body. Specific emphasis is put on engineering knowledge and practical skills.
Biomedical engineers have the skills and flexibility to be involved in a wide number of activities from the development of novel devices to the delivery of expert services directly to patients.
By studying this course you will have access to a variety of careers in many environments, which include: hospitals, private and public research facilities, medical institutions, universities and government agencies. You will be entering the profession at a time of exciting change and innovation.

Bachelor of Engineering (with Honours) - BEng (Hon)
Learn the principles and practices of engineering with a healthcare focus in topics such as electronic engineering, engineering science, human anatomy and physiology for engineers, mathematics for engineers and software engineering. Undertake a team project based on a real-world example.
Develop your skills and knowledge further in topics such as biomaterials, biomechanics, and mathematical applications. Carry out two hands-on projects to design and develop advanced medical instruments.
Expand your understanding of advanced topics including biotechnology and regenerative medicine, computational fluid dynamics (CFD)/ finite element analysis (FEA) for biomedical engineering, kinematics and prosthetics and medical imaging. The individual research project will consolidate your abilities with the development of a complete medical device: from the concept proposal to the final prototype design.
