This course is designed to support you in completing the exam element of the EASA part 147 training certificate. You must also accrue 5 years of practical experience in an aircraft maintenance role in order to be awarded the full training certificate. This can be done alongside your studies or after graduation. In addition, there are many other aerospace relevant jobs which are available to graduates within manufacturing and repair/overhaul in the Midlands. The programme has been aligned to the academic requirements for professional recognition as an Incorporated Engineer.

This course is designed to support successful completion of the EASA exams required for the EASA part 147 training certificate.
In year 1, you will study the following level 4 modules:

    In year 2, you will study the following level 5 modules:

  • Physics of Propellers*
    In year 3, you will study the following level 5 modules:

Assessment method

A variety of methods of assessment will be used within the programme, including coursework, assignments, examinations, practical hand-skill assessments, experiments and presentations. Most modules consist of more than one method of assessment. You will be required to sit additional examinations for the EASA modules.

Applicants who do not meet the standard entry criteria but have appropriate industry and life experiences will have their prior learning and skills taken into account. Applicants may be required to complete an Aptitude assessment (this will be advised at interview).

Interview

All applicants are required to attend an interview and will be notified of the date via email and UCAS Track. Applicants applying from outside the West Midlands alternative interview arrangements can be made for you but we strongly encourage all prospective applicants come along to view Solihull College and University Centre’s facilities and meet the teaching teams.
At Interview original certificates including GCSE’s will be required, applicants applying for our Early Years courses will be required to bring evidence of DBS check, Art & Design and Media students a portfolio or show reel will also be required for interview.
Mature students who do not meet the standard entry criteria but have appropriate industry and life experiences will have their prior learning and skills taken into account.
Please allow 28 working days from receiving of your application to a decision being made and UCAS Track to be updated. This time may increase if there is missing information from your application (applicants will be contacted directly to request this) or during busy application periods such as 15th January equal consideration date and possibly February.


English language requirements

Students who are non-native English speakers, or who have not studied the final two years of school in English, but can demonstrate capability in English at a standard commensurate to IELTS 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 being awarded on individual sections for a level 4, 5 or 6 qualification, will be considered as eligible to apply for the programme/course.
