The BA (Hons) Education and Mathematics degree will consider the development of the individual; physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively from childhood to adulthood.

It will consider the historical development of the concept of education as well as the history of the English education system.

A mathematics qualification is much sought after by employers in all sectors of industry and commerce and will always enhance your career prospects.

Covering a wide range of topics from abstract algebra to the mathematics of finance this degree will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge for employment.

An emphasis on community and society and global citizenship is addressed through modules which consider contemporary issues in education and education in a multi-cultural society.

There will also be a work based placement module which will provide you with some understanding of education in your chosen field.

A Mathematics project worth 30 credits will allow you to gain an in depth knowledge and understanding of a particular aspect of mathematics which is of interest to you.

If you are an international student and English is not your first language, you can begin your 3-year degree programme at IELTS 5.5. Our International Route allows you to take 4 credit-bearing modules in International English Studies (IES) as part of your first year studies. This means you study 4 modules in your chosen subject and 4 in International English. The IES Modules allow you to focus on personal language development and your use of English as an academic language. Then, at the end of your first year, you’ll have all the necessary language skills to transfer to full study of your main subject. If you have an IELTS score under 5.5 you can still begin a 3-year degree programme with us. In this case we provide a 5 or 10 week intensive Presessional Programme in English language and academic skills. For the 10 week Programme you’ll need IELTS 4.5, and IELTS 5.0 for the 5 week Programme.
