Our Law LLB course is accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board as a Qualifying Law Degree in England and Wales. The course gives exemption from the academic stage of qualification for both branches of the legal profession. If you are intending to qualify as a solicitor or barrister then this is the course for you.

As part of this course you will have the chance to visit courtrooms and prisons. Our Law team has strong links with the local legal profession and invite law firms and barristers to visit to provide you with career advice and allow you to learn from their experience.

If you choose to study Law with us you will benefit from a varied and imaginative modular scheme that is designed to offer you a wide range of options in addition to the foundation subjects that are required by legal professional bodies. Our approach to teaching and learning is centred around you, we ensure that we teach Law in its social, political, and economic context across all three stages of the course.

We offer a wide range of additional voluntary activities, such as court visits, mooting, client interviewing and negotiating as part of the Law LLB. There is also the opportunity for you to join the Student Law Society, which organises social and professional activities that help to prepare you for a legal career. You will also be encouraged to get involved with our Pro Bono Advice Clinic that will allow you to put your learning to practice in real-life scenarios and make a positive difference within the local community. Our Law division also has links with local organisations such as the Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council and Citizens Advice, that you can benefit from and explore as work experience opportunities.

By studying at the University of Northampton, you can be sure that:

  • You will experience student life at the University’s £330 million Waterside Campus. Come along to an Open Day and find out more.
