Applied Sport is a multi-billion pound, multifaceted industry within the UK and lends itself to a number of disciplines and areas within the fields of physical education, coaching, health and physical activity, and business. It is our appreciation of the sheer breadth of the sport industry that has formed our exciting and varied BA in Applied Sport, giving students the opportunities to study a wide range of these contemporary and in-demand areas, ready to step into employment within any of these sectors.
Our highly experienced, vocationally skilled and relevant staff team have experience in fields of health, training, education, sports development, business management, and both amateur and professional sports settings. As such, our excellent scope of industry contacts allow us to make work experience a fundamental cornerstone of our courses, giving you the opportunities above the many other students seeking employment.
Our unique pathway options (years 2 and 3 of the study program) in Sports Coaching and Physical Education, Sports Management and Events, Sports Coaching and Development, Therapeutic Health, and Sport International, give students a fantastic opportunity to really personal their course. These pathways are rich with highly sought-after work experience opportunities with our huge range and network of industry links and partners such as Premier (Sports), Leyton Orient FC and Cambridge Utd FC, and various county health and sports professionals and partnerships.
We offer a range of teaching and coaching opportunities with our direct links with West Suffolk College, giving students the chance to build their CV’s and experiences in the classroom or on the training ground and many of our students continue onto a PGCE with us, well equipped with experience and employable qualities from their placements. In addition we have exciting opportunities to gain some experience working abroad with our international sports coaching contacts in locations such as Chicago, IL, USA, amongst others.
