The qualification has been developed in conjuction with local employers and relevent professional organisations. Specification provision aims to include a variety of practical skills development, knowledge requirements and theoretical applications. Units may include; Industrial Microbiology, Physiology of Cellular Systems in Animals, Industrial Chemistry and Quality Assurance and Quality Control. The format of the assessment will take a variety of forms including assignments, presentations, workplace logbook and some examined units. The qualification includes a work-based project enabling you to apply the theory and skills learnt on the course to a particular area of interest for you or your employer.
This course is most suited for those who are currently working in a laboratory based environment or in a practical science related tole as it combines work-based learning with academic skills and research gathering. Those not currently working in a laboratory-based environment or a role involving the practical application of science should contact the College for an informal discussion about how the course may be tailored to meet their specific needs.
