This course enables students who require additional academic and/or English language skills to continue onto the BSc. Medical Sciences or apply for other courses subject to academic achievement in year 1. These alternatives are: undergraduate medicine (MBBS)*, integrated Masters Physician Associate Studies, MPharm (Hons), BSc. Biomedical Sciences, BSc. Dental Hygeine and Dental Therapy.

The School of Medicine wishes to increase access to medical education and support the development and sustainability of a regional workforce. In 2019, the MBBS course is open to international students and limited number of UK students and so competition for progression to the MBBS programme is very high. Weighting will be given to UK Widening Participation students wishing to apply for MBBS (see our webpage for further information).
