Chemical Engineering University of Huddersfield

On our Chemical Engineering BEng(Hons) we cover every aspect of modern, industry-relevant chemical engineering material from the basics of organic and physical chemistry to the finer points of process design. Along the way you’ll get the chance to develop your understanding of the legal and environmental concerns that also play an important role in the industry.

Supported by experienced doctoral level academics, you’ll learn through a mix of lectures, tutorials, workshops and practical lab sessions. Underpinning all of our teaching is an emphasis on transferrable skills, so whether you’re getting to grips with instruments in the lab, using industry-specific software packages or working on a group presentation, you’ll get a whole range of opportunities to get hands-on experience and maximise your employability.

Building on the solid foundations you’ll get from your Chemistry, Maths and Design modules, we’ll also give you the chance to spend a year on work placement in Year 3. Not only is a placement year the perfect opportunity to put your knowledge into practice, it could also provide valuable insight into real-world chemical engineering helping to give you the edge when you graduate. So if you’re looking to get well set up for a career in oil, fine chemical, material, food, pharmaceutical and many other industries, this could be just the course for you.
