Applied Biology HNC is a broad based programme which allow students to further study Biology while expanding their technical skills ready for the workplace. It develops knowledge and understanding of key scientific concepts as well as developing research skills.
Classes are taught through a combination of lectures, discussion, group work, tutorials and practical workshops. Students are encouraged to work independently and to undertake additional reading and research to broaden their understanding of the subject.
You will need to have UCAS points 64 through one of the following routes: BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science (MMP or above) A levels, to include Chemistry or Access to HE Science. Plus GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above

• Biochemistry of Macromolecules and Metabolic Pathways
• Physiology of Cellular Systems in Animals
• Laboratory Techniques for Applied Biology
• Analysis of Scientific Data and Information
• Human Health and Nutrition
This course is assessed through a series of written assignments with some practical work and presentations.
