Our Electronic & Electrical Engineering (EEE) degree will give you a broad exposure to the huge and rapidly growing fields of Electronics, Photonics and Electrical Engineering. You will learn to apply knowledge, techniques and skills in a practical environment, individually and as part of a team as well as gaining a strong foundation in scientific principles and mathematics.
Traditional engineering courses often involve large, impersonal lectures but out courses are taught in small, interactive seminar groups in our state-of-the-art facilities. This means more demonstrations and guided experiences working as a team with others in your department and from related courses such as Business, Product Design or Digital Media.
The University of Chichester is inducted into the CDIO worldwide initiative alongside other leading universities. However, our unique CDIO (Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate) approach means that our courses are designed to be practical and lab-focused from the ground up.
Each academic year of the BEng (Hons) Electronic & Electrical Engineering degree centres on a two-semester long design-build challenge. The knowledge and techniques that you will apply in your design-build challenges are gained in workshops, seminars and practical lab based modules that are specific to Electronic & Electrical Engineering.
Design-build challenges start with a design brief, to which you must apply the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) engineering cycle. The course also contains many specialist modules to provide you with the breadth knowledge and skills needed for a career in engineering and science.

English language requirements
The standard entry requirement for this programme is IELTS 6.0 with no element lower than 5.5. However, you can begin your 3-year degree programme with IELTS 5.5. Our International Route allows you to take 4 credit-bearing modules in International English Studies (IES) as part of your first year studies. This means you study 4 modules in your chosen subject and 4 in International English. The IES Modules allow you to focus on personal language development and your use of English as an academic language. Then, at the end of your first year, you’ll have all the necessary language skills to transfer to full study of your main subject. If you have an IELTS score under 5.5 you can still begin a 3-year degree programme with us. In this case we provide a 5 or 10 week intensive Presessional Programme in English language and academic skills. For the 10 week Programme you’ll need IELTS 4.5, and IELTS 5.0 for the 5 week Programme.
