BA (Hons) Design for Art Direction will help you learn the skills associated with being a practice-based designer. You will also develop your creative vision and the ability to direct other practitioners in realising that vision in whatever media and outcome are relevant to the solution. This course is taught at London College of Communication, at Elephant & Castle, part of University of the Arts London.

What can you expect?

• BA (Hons) Design for Art Direction explores the practical, conceptual and managerial skills relating to design and art direction. This course is about practice, but it also covers leadership and the management of processes.
• You will gain expertise in the practical aspects of graphic design, related to the communication of concepts. Additionally, the course will focus on the role of the Art Director/Creative Director in developing and realising ideas through leadership, management and the commissioning of individuals and teams of designers, photographers, filmmakers, advertisers, illustrators or other media specialists in the creative industries.
• Learning and teaching will be undertaken in a variety of different contexts including, workshops, studio practice, lectures and seminars. The acquisition of new - and consolidation of existing - design skills will be seen in the context of theory and management skills associated with the leadership and management of others.
• The College is home to excellent and extensive resources from analogue to digital, all of which help you to gain a wide range of skills relevant to the subject and profession. Given our central location in a leading design capital and our considerable professional contacts, BA (Hons) Design for Art Direction will offer ample opportunities for collaborative working with leading practitioners on live projects which prepare you for progression into industry or continuing education.
