The BA in History progresses from broad to specialised topics. Core modules in the first year introduce you to the broad sweep of history across time and place and historical problems. You develop this in the following years, which cultivate expertise, leading up to your 10,000-word dissertation

|Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)||DDD||
We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications.
A Level in History or Classical Civilisation (or equivalent qualification) at grade A is essential. We may also consider relevant units in your BTEC as A Level History equivalent.
|Access to HE Diploma||
D: 39 credits
M: 6 credits
|Pass Access to HE Diploma with 39 credits at Distinction including at least 9 in History-related units and 6 at Merit or higher.|
|Scottish Higher||AAAAA||Only acceptable in conjunction with Scottish Advanced Highers.|
|Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal||D3, D3, D3||Cambridge Pre-U History at grade D3 is essential.|
|Extended Project||A||We recognise the value of this qualification and for this programme you will be eligible for a reduced offer of one grade below the typical offer, where an EPQ is taken alongside 3 A Levels or equivalent and you achieve a mark of grade A or higher.|
|International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme||36 points||With 6 in Higher Level History.|
|OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma||DDD||
We consider a range of OCR qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications.
A Level in History or Classical Civilisation (or equivalent qualification) at grade A is essential. We may also consider relevant units in your OCR Cambridge Technical as A Level equivalent.
|Scottish Advanced Higher||AA||
Acceptable in conjunction with Scottish Highers.
Advanced Higher History at grade A is essential.
|Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (first teaching September 2015)||A||We will consider this qualification alongside, or in combination with, A Levels or other qualifications, as equivalent to one A Level.|
