The HNC is a 1-year full-time course for people who would like to progress their careers by gaining level 4 qualification in engineering. Successful completion of the HNC entitles you to study a further year to gain a level 5 HND in Engineering
Our courses include use of modern industry standard software and equipment, use of analysis tools, CAD, electronic testing, material testing and automation. An ideal course for Electro- mechanical engineers
The purpose of BTEC Higher Nationals in Engineering is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals who can meet the demands of employers in the rapidly evolving engineering sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualifications also aim to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them.

Course Structure
We will be offering HNC on the new BTEC RQF framework
The course will include mandatory units of:
• Engineering Design
• Engineering Science
• Engineering Maths
• Managing a Professional Engineering Project
And 4 additional units:
• Materials, Properties and Testing
• Electronic Circuits and Devices
• Automation, Robotics and PLC
• Computer Aided Design and Manufacture (CAD/CAM)
this level of study requires additional hours allocated each week outside of college for research and writing reports.
Students will be required to attend college for 3 days a week.
On successful completion of this course, students can progress onto year 2 HND engineering

Teaching and Learning
HNC courses are taught by a team of specialist subject lecturers, supported by a tutor.
Classes are informal and incorporate a variety of teaching and learning methods e.g. discussion, lectures, group work, practical sessions etc
The course will be delivered over 2 years as a full-time course of 3 days a week.

Progression and Career Opportunities
From HNC to HND to Top-up degree at university or degree apprenticeship.
Design engineer, Electrical or electronic engineer, mechanical engineer.

Entry Criteria
For students who have recently been in education, the entry profile is likely to include one of the following:
● A* to C grade in GCSE Maths – A sound mathematical ability is essential.
● A BTEC Level 3 qualification in Engineering,
● A GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subjects such Maths, Physics, etc

Our campus has a range of modern facilities to enhance students learning experience including music recording studios, gym facilities, a nursery, to our own working restaurant and beauty salon and much more. There are frequent buses from the surrounding areas and local train stations in Havant and Cosham. Located off Junction 4 of the A3(M), the College has extensive free onsite parking.
