A friendly, creative, challenging and practical course that will give you the knowledge, practical experiences and confidence to pursue a career in the make-up industry as a professional make-up artist for theatre, fashion, video and television. The course has a strong focus on prosthetics work. On successful completion of the course you would progress to the HND year with us and then, if you wish, progress onto a University for a year 3 top up or out into industry. There are strong work experience opportunities throughout the course to support individual career goals.
Higher National Certificate - HNC
Your first HNC year will see you explore Hair and Make-up for TV and Film, Facial Postiche, SPFX and Prosthetics including head casts, sculpting wounds, working with resin cores, silicone etc.; Period Hair and Make-up, research skills, Costume Design and Hari and Make-up for promotional, catwalk and editorial work. As you progress to the second HND year you will develop Postiche and Wig making skills, Advanced Prosthetics with input from Stuart Bray, Photographic Techniques, how to Manage a Creative Business and Professional Portfolio building.
