Course summary

The aim of the course is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the computing sector and adapt a constantly changing world. The qualification aims to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them.
We aim to cover areas developing technical knowledge such as in networking, security, cloud computing, programming, games development and databases. Structuring the course in such a manner means students can maintain a multidisciplinary approach, having more flexibility when choosing future career options. The course is assessed entirely by coursework and includes a suitable work placement.

First year modules include Programming; Networking; Professional Practice; Database Design and Development; Security; Managing a Successful Computer Project; Computer Systems Architecture; Website Design and Development.
Second year modules include: Computing Research Project; Business Intelligence; Cloud Computing; Network Security; Data Structures and Algorithm; Advanced Programming.

Assessment method

The course is assessed entirely by coursework.
