This course is designed to equip you for a successful career in the IT industry. The course will give a comprehensive overview and thorough grounding in the main areas of modern computing, providing you with the real, practical skills needed in today’s competitive environment. It develops an appreciation of the need to implement a structured approach to programme design, and the necessary skills. It also provides a framework for sound technical and professional practices and an opportunity to develop both independent and co-operative work.
This course is assessed through coursework, assignments and projects.

Points of entry
The following entry points are available for this course:

|UCAS Tariff||64 points||All Level 3 qualifications must be an IT or computing subject or you should be able to demonstrate suitability at interview.|
|A level||CC||If you are taking 3 or more A Levels you can achieve the entry requirement of 64 UCAS tariff points across all of the A Level subjects you are taking providing they are in an IT or computing subject.|
|Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)||MPP||You must be studying an IT or computing subject.|
|Access to HE Diploma||P: 45 credits||You are required to achieve 45 credits at Level 3 and 15 credits at Level 2, totalling 60 credits in an IT or computing subject.|
|Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)||MM||You must be studying an IT or computing subject.|
You are required to have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above to include English and Maths. We will accept Level 2 equivalences for English and Maths in place of GCSEs.
We encourage applications from students who do not meet the entry requirements outlined but can demonstrate ability through work experience, portfolio of evidence or successful interview.
Additional entry requirements
Institutions Own Test (IOT)
If you do not hold a Level 2 English and/or Maths qualification you maybe required to undertake an initial assessment to ascertain your current literacy and/or numeracy levels and/or a free writing assessment.
If you do not meet the entry requirements outlined you may be asked to attend for an interview with the Admissions Tutor.
