The FdA Business and Management aims to develop critically informed, agile and resourceful graduates, who:
• have the versatility and personal qualities to manage a range of business activities in a global context;
• are critically aware of the wider impact of business decisions on organisational stakeholders and society;
• have highly-developed interpersonal skills;
• are able to manage their own personal development and lifelong learning.
On completing the programme, we want students to know and understand how organisations operate in a constantly changing environment, locally, nationally and globally. They will also have developed and, or, increased their knowledge and skills in a range of business subjects including, marketing, human resource management, business ethics and sustainability and financial management.
Students will also have explored their own employability and career options and applied their acquired knowledge and skills to a range of possible future careers and jobs.
With the world of business being so diverse, the range of units, both core and optional, have been designed to embrace as many situations as possible, improve employability skills by the use of organisation research, working in groups, personal and individual presentations and working with outside organisations. Students study six core units in their first year which leads to the second year where there are a range of optional units, which allow students to specialise. (Number of options is subject to group sizes) All of the teaching team have industry experience in their fields and ensure they stay up to date.
Bournemouth is a great place to study with a vibrant town centre, award winning beaches and surrounded by spectacular scenery and UNESCO world heritage sites. The College is a 5 minute walk to the town centre and beach, and only 10 minutes to the main Bournemouth University campus by bus or car.
