Course summary

This highly practical course is ideal if you are interested in studying videogame development, and you already have a portfolio of impressive design work, including some 3D modelling and texture work. On the HNC you will 3D model, texture and animate using industry standard software such as Autodesk Maya, Adobe CC, ZBrush and Substance Painter. The assets you create will then be brought to life using the Epic Unreal Engine.

The HNC (level 4) is made up of the following units:

• Art Development (Practical project: Creating 2D Game Art)
• Game Design (Practical project: Creating a Game prototype)
• Game Development Practices (Practical project: Group Game Project)
• Individual Project (Practical project: Personal Project)
• Games in Context (Theory: Exploring History of Videogames)
• Professional Practice (Theory: Personal Development Goals)
• Creative Media Industry (Theory: Exploring the Videogame Industry)

Assessment method

Assessment is through practical and written assignments. You'll be given written and verbal feedback and action points to help you to develop your work.
