Our MEng Mining Engineering degree programme is truly multidisciplinary, including elements of civil and mechanical engineering, geology, metallurgy, economics, environmental management and health and safety.
It is also highly vocational, so in addition to lecture based study, the programme includes field trips, tours, a summer industrial placement and practical classes in surveying. You will generally spend your second year summer vacation gaining work experience anywhere from Australia to the UK and will often be paid for doing so.
This is a Mining Engineering Degree which provides a study abroad year is based on the Universities Internationalism strategy based around one specific partner, the University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada

BTEC Extended Diploma (2016)
Applicants studying one of the following new BTEC Extended Diplomas will be considered without GCE AL requirements: Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering.

Applicants studying any other BTEC Extended Diploma will also be required to have Grade A at GCE AL in two Science subjects including Physics or Chemistry; or Grade A in AL Maths and GCSE Science.
Access to HE Diploma D: 30 credits
M: 15 credits
Pass the Access to HE Diploma with 30 L3 credits at Distinction grade and 15 L3 credits at Merit grade. To include 30 L3 credits at Distinction grade in two Science subjects including either Physics or Chemistry OR 13 L3 credits at Distinction grade in Maths and GCSE Science. Scottish Higher AAAAB Grade A in two Science subjects including Physics or Chemistry; or Grade A in Maths and GCSE Science required.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme 36 points Applicants will be considered with IB 36 OR 666 in three Higher Level subjects. All applicants will be required to have HL Grade 6 in two Science subjects including either Physics or Chemistry OR HL Maths and SL4 in a Science.
Scottish Advanced Higher AAB Grade A in two Science subjects including Physics or Chemistry; or Grade A in Maths and GCSE Science required.
