After the course
Upon successful completion of the course, students can:
Complete a third year full honours degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) before progressing to teaching.
Assist with the teaching of PE and school sports in further education institutions, or go into community sports management roles such as; activity coaches within the community, children’s holiday activity leader, self-employed sports coach etc.
Complete additional sports coaching qualifications (available through SCL's network of partnerships with sports academies, at additional cost to the learner) and progress into a career in coaching & management, i.e. as a coach at a professional sports club.

In Year 1, students can expect their course to comprise of the following academic modules:
Anatomy & Physiology, Coaching, Teaching & Learning, Acquisition of Skill, Fundamentals of Sports Coaching, Initial Research Project, Sports Development, Fitness & Fitness Testing and Fundamentals of Physical Education.
This is alongside in-the-field work experience and the additional opportunity to achieve a Level 3 certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education & School Sport, available to all students, delivered by SCL at no extra cost.
Year 2 is similarly structured. Students’ academic studies will consist of:
Practical Research Project, Sports Psychology for Coaches, Nutrition for Sports & Exercise, Management & Organisation of Sport, Sport in Society, Health & Wellbeing and Curriculum & Course Development.
This is aligned to further work experience and the additional opportunity to achieve a Level 2 certificate in Multi-Skills Development in Sport and a Level 3 award in Education & Training, available to all students, delivered by SCL at no extra cost.
